Apple Music Brings the Nightclub Thrill in Spatial Audio to its Services

Apple brings a nightclub sensation to its service by bringing DJ mixes recorded in , allowing users to listen to mixes in spatial .

The company aims to bring listeners into a truly immersive audio experience with multidimensional sound and clarity.

To mark the launch, Detroit-based DJ and producer Jeff Mills will be presenting an exclusive hour-long mix called Outer to Inner Atmosphere: The Escape Velocity Mix.

The set also officially relaunches the Apple Music acclaimed One Mix series, created by the world’s top DJs and producers. Apple says new music mixes will be added each month going forward.

The tech giant added that spatial audio is the next natural step in Apple Music‌’s commitment to DJ sound and mixes following the launch of a program based on the technology from Shazam.

Launching TechCrunch, Thursday, April 21, technology from Shazam, which the company acquired in 2018 for $400 million, Apple Music is working with major and independent labels to devise ways to fairly divide royalties among DJs, labels, and emerging artists in mixed music.

This is intended to help DJ music mixes maintain long-term monetary value to all creators involved, ensuring that musicians are paid for their work even when other artists use it.

“The response to spatial audio from both customers and creators has been incredible, and we’re excited to expand this innovation in sound,” said Stephen Campbell, global head of dance and electronic music at Apple Music.

Along with this announcement, Apple Music is also launching 15 Boiler Room mixes shot at nightclubs, festivals, raves and just mixed in spatial audio for the first time. This app will add more sessions mixed in spatial audio throughout the year.
