Coinbase CEO Accuses Apple of Running Monopoly Business

Apple is again accused of running a monopolistic business by a global technology company. Recently, the platform has been critical of .

Coinbase CEO and founder Brian Armstrong called Apple a company that could potentially violate antitrust laws by preventing Coinbase from growing.

During an April 20 “Superstream Podcast” podcast, Armstrong spoke about the current state of cryptocurrencies, entrepreneurship, and the Coinbaase platform.

For those of you who are not familiar, Coinbase is a cryptocurrency trading platform on desktop and mobile devices.

Based on App Store rankings, Coinbase is the 18th most popular Finance app on the App Store.

During the podcast, Armstrong was asked whether Coinbase would release its own cryptocurrency hardware or not. Armstrong says that most people don’t want a separate digital wallet that’s only used for cryptocurrencies.

He said that most users would be more comfortable using something that integrates with their smartphone.

Unfortunately, Armstrong said that Apple prevented Coinbase from growing because it prevented a number of features from being present on the iOS platform.

“Apple so far hasn’t been really nice with crypto, they’ve actually banned a lot of the features we’d like to have in iOS apps, but they don’t allow it so there are antitrust issues there,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong did not explain in detail what features were banned from Coinbase iOS.

Armstrong simply said that crypto-compatible phones are indispensable for the future.
