Fostex has introduced its new flagship closed-back headphones, the TH910 and TH919, set to replace the company’s long-running TH900 series.

The over-ear models feature housings made from Japanese-lacquered maple with silver foil patterning crafted by Urushi Sakamoto Co., Ltd., marking a design shift toward premium finishing.

Both headphones incorporate updated 50mm BioDyna drivers that include a revised voice coil and driver surround aimed at refining bass performance and extending frequency response. The drivers are rated for 12.5 to 40,000 Hz, with 25 ohms impedance and sensitivity of 100 dB/mW.

Fostex says the models are designed for use with high-power amplifiers and can handle inputs up to 1,800 mW via a 3.5 mm oxygen-free copper cable, with a 4.4 mm balanced option planned for later release.

Weight has been reduced by approximately 20% compared with the TH900 series through the use of magnesium alloy, bringing both models to 385 g. Comfort improvements include a natural sheepskin-padded headband and ear cups lined with silk protein synthetic leather and dual-density urethane foam.

The TH910 and TH919 are expected to begin shipping in September 2025 through the Fostex store on Amazon. Pricing has not yet been confirmed but is expected to start around $2,000.
