Garmin has begun rolling out a new beta software update for its Instinct smartwatch lineup, introducing functional improvements and bug fixes across several models, according to details published by the company.
The update, labeled software version 13.08, is available to users enrolled in Garmin’s beta program and must be requested manually through the watch interface. Garmin said the process does not require a separate installation through a computer or mobile app. The beta applies to the Instinct 3 and Instinct E models, including variants such as the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Solar and Crossover.

Changes vary by model. Garmin said the Instinct 3 Crossover receives a fix related to the calculation of estimated remaining battery life, while the Instinct 3 Solar, AMOLED and Crossover models gain improvements to workout readiness features. All Instinct 3 devices receive smaller functional updates, including the ability to save distance data during rowing machine workouts.
Sleep-related features are also being expanded. Garmin said the smart wake-up function can now be configured, using what it described as a “30-minute window to target light sleep phases,” aimed at providing a gentler wake-up experience. Users can also customize the morning report, while swimmers benefit from fixes addressing calorie calculation issues.
