Google Maps will reportedly add more detailed information and become easier to reach on smartphones. First, the application will present information related to toll road fares, so that drivers can prepare them so they don’t have to queue long, because they have to refill electronic money on the spot.
This feature will be added for Android and iOS users in Indonesia, United States, India, and Japan. Users can view the estimated toll prices for their destinations before enabling navigation starting later this month. Google says it will expand to more countries in the future.
Another improvement in the coming weeks is that Google Maps will bring traffic lights and stop signs to users on Android, iOS, Android Auto, and Carplay. Thus, it can provide a better estimate of travel time.
In certain cities, Google Maps will more accurately describe the shape of the road. This will also add to the contours of the building making the location more recognizable. However, the company did not mention which cities or countries will receive this update.
In addition, Google Maps will also provide navigation for the Apple Watch. The company is integrating the app with Spotlight, Siri, and Shortcuts so that navigating information with voice commands on iOS will be easier. Widget improvements will also be another way to reach Google Maps on iOS more quickly.
