On-Together: Virtual Co-Working, a new social productivity application aimed at remote workers, launched on Steam on Jan. 19 and has drawn a positive early response from users, according to data from the platform. The title, developed by GigaPuff and published by Future Friends Games, is priced at $9.99 and seeks to address isolation associated with working from home.

The application places users’ customizable avatars in shared digital spaces such as libraries, treehouses and other virtual lounges, where they can work alongside friends or strangers in real time. Unlike traditional productivity software, On-Together is designed to run passively, functioning as a transparent overlay or in a minimized “sticker mode” while users focus on tasks outside the app.

Developers describe the experience as a form of “body doubling,” a concept based on the idea that working in the presence of others can help improve focus and motivation. “Unlike typical productivity apps, On-Together is a cozy, multiplayer simulation where your customized avatar sits in a shared digital lounge,” the project description states.

Early indicators suggest a strong launch. Within its first 24 hours, the app reached a peak of 1,167 concurrent users and recorded a 100% positive rating from initial reviews on Steam. Users highlighted built-in tools such as Pomodoro timers, task lists, journals and calendars, which reward completed focus sessions with in-game cosmetic items.

With low system requirements and no mandatory subscriptions, On-Together positions itself as a lightweight alternative to corporate monitoring tools, offering accountability through social presence rather than oversight. While it currently lacks official Steam Deck verification, it remains playable on the device, expanding its appeal to freelancers, students and other remote workers seeking a shared digital workspace.
