Capcom said its next mainline entry in the Resident Evil franchise will be released on Feb. 27, 2026, confirming the launch date and key characters for what it describes as Resident Evil Requiem.

The game, also referred to as Resident Evil 9, will be available on PC, PlayStation and Xbox platforms. A newly released trailer shows longtime series character Leon Kennedy returning as a lead protagonist, alongside a new character, Grace Ashcroft, whose storyline will intersect with his during the campaign.

While the trailer focused largely on cinematic sequences, it offered limited insight into gameplay. Early footage suggests the game will retain familiar series elements, including over-the-shoulder combat and a slower, more deliberate pacing. The video also briefly introduced the game’s primary antagonist, identified as Dr. Gideon.

Capcom said the narrative will centre on the connection between its two protagonists, stating that their fates will be “intertwined.” The company had previously suggested Leon Kennedy might not play a central role, making his confirmed return a notable shift.

Industry speculation has suggested the campaign could be longer than Resident Evil: Village. Capcom has also said it aims to avoid launch issues seen in some recent releases, raising expectations that more details on gameplay systems and PC performance will be shared as the release date approaches.
