After years of providing mixed algorithm feeds, from followed and recommended account uploads in no order, Instagram has finally returned a chronological feed or feeds displayed in chronological order. However, the company divides into 2 different modes, based on the focus of their respective feeds.
Instagram Android users can now manage the appearance of their feeds or feeds based on 2 modes, namely Following and Favorites. While both modes display content in chronological order, they each serve a different purpose.
Following Mode is a chronological feed that displays content from accounts that are followed only and nothing else. That means, you won’t see any recommended uploads from accounts you don’t follow. While the Favorites mode slightly involves favorite accounts.
In Favorites mode, you’ll only see this particular account, allowing you to easily follow your favorite people, such as family or closest relatives, and add them to your list of favorite accounts on Instagram. The list of favorite accounts is also private, so accounts added as favorites will not be notified.
How to add favorite account
- Click the three-line menu in the upper right corner, in the profile page.
- Then click Favorites.
- Find the account you want to add. Please note, only followed accounts can be added, so make sure you follow the account.
Now the feed will contain the accounts that really matter to you without any suggestions or recommendations from the Instagram algorithm determined based on your activity. Good luck, Tech Friends.
