Finnish smartwatch manufacturer, Suunto, has announced a new version of the Suunto 5, the Suunto 5 Peak. However, this new smartwatch looks and feels a lot different from its predecessor as it is thinner and lighter.
According to the company, the Suunto 5 Peak is the lightest GPS sports smartwatch ever, weighing in at just 39 grams. To achieve this 41% weight reduction, the company has switched to a plastic body cover instead of the mineral glass offered in Suunto 5. The smartwatch is also quite slim at 12.9mm thick.
Reporting from Gizmochina (21/1), Suunto 5 Peak has a 1.1-inch screen that offers a resolution of 218 x 218 pixels. Suunto 5 Peak also offers the company’s popular 3D Heat Map that can help users find safer routes to plan adventures or during an emergency.
Suunto has also installed more than 80 sport modes in Peak and can track steps, resting and active heart rates, calorie burn, recovery, sleep quality and duration.
The battery life offered by Suunto 5 Peak varies in different modes. The device can last up to 10 days on a single charge in Time mode. This smartwatch offers three sport mode options, namely Performance, Endurance, and Tour.
Performance mode offers 20 hours of continuous use, Endurance mode gives users 40 hours of use, and Tour mode allows 100 hours of continuous GPS use. This product also allows the user to control the music on the phone and check notifications.
Users can choose from six different rope colors, including one made from recycled rope scraps. Suunto Peak 5 is available for pre-order in the US and Canada for $329. This smartwatch will be available globally in the spring of 2022.
